Dr. Neil Carvalho, OD, BSc

Dr. Carvalho’s passion for the health care field started at a young age. Growing up in impoverished West Africa he was made fully aware of the necessity and urgency of health care on the quality of life.

Dr. Carvalho graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a Bio-organic minor from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. His passion for helping people and interest in the life sciences drove him to further pursue a Doctorate of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. His four year training enabled him to experience a wide variety of patient interactions and a diverse educational background. In his final year of the program he worked at several eye care settings including a community health care center, a Veteran’s Affairs clinic in Manchester, New Hampshire, a contact lens practice as well as a world renowned Ophthalmology practice in Hallandale, Florida specializing in the latest lasik procedures and oculoplastic surgeries.

His areas of interest in Optometry include paedeatrics, contact lenses, punctual plug treatment for certain cases of dry eye syndrome as well as preventative care for chronic conditions such as Glaucoma and Macular degeneration. Keeping up to date with current literature and research into the fields of preventative medicine, Dr. Carvalho appreciates the importance of educating his patients on the necessary precautions and dietary, physical life-style interventions to prevent eye diseases from occurring.

Dr. Carvalho enjoys traveling, culture and sports. He is fluent in English and French, with a working knowledge of Spanish.

Dr. Zain Hassan

With a life-long passion for eyes, Dr. Hassan started his education with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University, which he graduated with in 2011 First Class with distinction. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2015, graduating on the Dean’s Honor List. Dr. Hassan has trained at many different externship locations, including doing his ocular disease and therapeutics rotation at the John Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where he worked alongside several ophthalmologists and learned to diagnose, manage, and treat many different ocular conditions including dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and much more. He also trained at a refractive surgery clinic in the GTA performing pre and post LASIK co-management. He has also worked with many Optometrists in Oshawa, Markham, and Downtown Toronto to develop his skills in contact lenses, binocular vision, and pediatrics. In fact, Dr. Hassan has even trained under Dr. Carvalho during one of his externships! Dr. Hassan strives to keep up on the latest research and up to date treatment models to serve his patients the best way he can. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is excited to be still working alongside Dr. Carvalho, where he is currently welcoming new patients of all ages. Dr. Hassan believes that vision is not just 20/20 and is dedicated to exceeding all your eye care needs!

Dr. Jeremy Han

Dr. Jeremy Han has always had a fascination for eyes since his was a child. His need for glasses and patching for amblyopia meant that he was constantly exposed to the world of optometry from a very young age. Dr. Han pursued the sciences throughout his education and graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bacherlor of Science degree in molecular biology and genetics. He then enrolled into the optometry program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In addition to seeing patients at the schools clinic, he completed his rotations at a private practice in Rhode Island and Philadelphia, as well as a lengthy rotation at Einstein Hospital where he was exposed to many different diseases and disorders of the eye. Dr. Han is passionate about early detection of systemic diseases through the eyes and has a special interest in retina. He believes that educating patients on their health and conditions is important and helps patients understand the reasons for treatments and lifestyle and dietary changes.

Dr. Aasim Fazalulla

Dr. Fazalulla was exposed to the optical industry at a young age. He would learn from his father who is an Optician the importance of vision and helping people see better. This motivated him to pursue Optometry to increase his ability to not only help people see better, but to make sure people’s eyes were taken care of. Dr. Fazalulla pursued his passion of Optometry overseas in the United Kingdom. After graduating with Honours in 2009, he remained in the UK and worked alongside Ophthalmologists who specialised in refractive surgery. He was trained to co-manage pre and post LASIK and Refractive lens exchange surgeries as well as management of dry eyes. After gaining his extensive experience he moved back home to Toronto, Canada and did rotations with retinal specialists and ophthalmologists who’s field of expertise included glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes. He obtained his Canadian license to practice Optometry in December 2016. Along with keeping up to date with the latest research and developments in eye care, Dr. Fazalulla spends his time with his family and friends, particularly his two young children.
